In our experience, students achieve more in their classes (pre-school students included) when they can focus on the teacher in a calm and controlled space. To minimise distractions, and like most dance studios, our classes are not open for viewing. Our younger students may have specific occasions where the teachers will invite parents/guardians to view the last few minutes of class, however this is at the discretion of our Teachers during Terms 1 & 2 only to help keep concert routines a surprise later in the year.
All Dance With Me students must be accompanied by an adult to each class to encourage their participation - please be ready to join in!
Our Tiny Tiptoes & Tiny Tumblers classes typically have student helpers who are fantastic at encouraging and supporting our youngest students as they adjust to the new environment. Strictly no photos or videos are to be taken by parents/guardians of the dancers during class. Our teachers and assistants do their best to capture accomplishments and happy memories in class to share on our Private Facebook Group, which we encourage all enrolled families to join!
Our uniform policy promotes Safe Dance, community, and Studio pride as well as a positive/productive attitude toward learning; Look like a dancer, Feel like a dancer!
Please no outside shoes; let’s protect our Dance Shoes and Studio floors by wearing a change of shoes to and from class (including Hip Hop!)
Trial students should please attend in comfortable, non-restrictive clothing (preferably plain black) with hair tied back, runners/bare feet and a water bottle.
All enrolled Dance students must please attend in appropriate attire as per our Uniform policy. Please bring a named water bottle, correct dance shoes, and ensure hair is neat and off the face. If you require medical supplies such as an asthma puffer or EpiPen, please ensure you hand this in to the teacher upon arrival. Students may be asked to remove watches & jewellery for safekeeping.
Please see our Fee and Cancellation Policy for full details.
Studio C hopes to see all students continue training throughout the year; all enrolments are assumed ongoing for subsequent Terms unless advised by a parent/guardian in writing. We understand that interests can change, however where possible we encourage students to see the remainder of Term before changing class genres in an effort to promote resilience, provide the students the opoprtunity to see their full potential of growth/development, and to honour their commitment to their peers.
A 14-DAY COOLING OFF PERIOD applies to any student from the date of their confirmed enrolment as emailed by Studio C admin. Enrolment changes or cancellations made during this period of 14 business days may incur a cancellation fee, any attended or missed classes may also be charged at the casual class rate. Cancellations/changes to an enrolment outside of the cooling off period may incur the full term fee. Parents/Guardians are highly encouraged to discuss any concerns with our Team via email, we'd love to explore various alternative options for your student if something's not quite right!
No! Exams and competitions are an excellent option for students wanting the challenge of taking their dancing even further and to have extra performance opportunities, but we completely understand that this isn’t for everybody!
Students may attend classes for recreation and work their way up through our levels at their own pace. We do offer solo/duo and troupe performance opportunities as well as Classical Ballet exam preparation for those students who are driven and want to get more out of their dancing.
Ballet dancers wishing to complete a ballet exam must attend two Ballet classes per week (including our exam specific preparation program), meet out-of-studio practise requirements and download the R.A.D app. All Ballet Exam classes/training programs incur extra costs; enquire today to discuss your dancer's options and to receive an exam information pack detailing extra costs, commitments & student expectations.
Students wanting to excel in Ballet should also consider Conditioning as supplementary training! Competition ballet dancers must enrol in a conditioning class.
Yes! The highlight of the year is our annual end of year concert held in a Ballarat theatre. This is a full-scale professional production with costumes, lights, and all! All students in Tinies classes and above are automatically included in the End of Year Performance unless withdrawn by a parent or guardian in writing. Any performance withdrawals should be communicated as soon as possible as class preparations start as early as Term 2. Dance With Me classes not included in the End of Year Performance.
All performing students will have a Production/Costume levy charged per class, included in their Term invoices. Families will be notified in advance and students enrolled in 4+ classes may have the total amount divided across multiple terms.
Student participation in any kind of event or performance is dependent on attendance to ensure a positive experience for all; consecutive absences prior to a performance/event may impact a student’s participation, please see our Enrolment Conditions & Agreement and Fee Policy for full details. Attendance at the Concert’s Dress Rehearsal is mandatory for all performers, dates will be communicated with families in Term 1.

All important communication is best sent via email at info@studiocperformingarts.com.au. Our team will endeavour to get back to you at their earliest convenience, however we appreciate your patience particularly during busy seasons and holidays. Feel free to send us a message on Facebook for quick communication (absences, late pick-up etc.). Communication with Families is done equally via email and through our private Facebook Group ‘Studio C Ballan Members’. Be sure to read through our major emails sent at the beginning and end of each term, and keep an eye out for our faster reminders on Facebook! Invoices and communication regarding your account will come a separate Studio C email address, please keep in mind in case this goes to junk.
Student supervision is not available before or after class, so drop-off/pick-ups only are strongly recommended where possible. Parents may accompany students in the stairwell, however noise must please be kept to a minimum to not interrupt classes or neighbouring businesses. Studio C takes no responsibility for students in the stairwell.
Running late or early to class pick up/drop off? Prompt pick-ups/drop-offs are always appreciated, but we understand things can come up and are able to keep an eye on dancers if need be. Please send a quick message to our Facebook page if you’re running late to pick up your dancer and their teacher will keep them within view as they start the next class. Dancers dropped off early must be accompanied by a parent until a Teacher is available to collect the class. Students arriving more than 10mins late to class may be asked to warm up by themselves or with an Assistant Teacher before joining in to ensure safety.
Prompt pick-ups/drop-offs are always appreciated, but we understand things can come up and are able to keep an eye on dancers if need be! Please send a quick text to Miss Charlotte or message our Facebook page if you’re running late to pick up your dancer and their teacher will keep them within view as they start the next class. Dancers dropped off early however, must discreetly make themselves known or be in view of a teacher without disrupting the class – disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated out of respect to the classes running and others in the building.
Studio C hosts several fundraisers throughout the year to contribute towards studio equipment, the concert etc. that are often open to the wider Ballan community so be sure to invite family, friends, neighbours… everyone!
The Ballan Autumn Festival is a beloved community event that Studio C has proudly participated in each year with dancers in the parade and performance spaces, energetically representing our studio with exciting dances and smiles! Studio C also occasionally hosts Showcase events that give our students a unique performance opportunity on a smaller scale than the end of year concert.
Student participation in any kind of event or performance is dependent on attendance to ensure a positive experience for all; consecutive absences prior to a performance/event may impact a student’s participation, please see our Enrolment Conditions & Agreement and Fee Policy for full details.
Studio C has a 100% no bullying or harassment policy to protect both our students and teachers. If you have any concerns regarding your student, their class, or a member of our team, please feel free to contact our studio director outside of teaching hours. Any emails indicated to be confidential by subject are treated as such and we will do our best to resolve issues discreetly and appropriately. Abuse or aggression towards our teachers will not be tolerated at any time and the safety of our dancers is always our number one priority, therefore approaching our teachers to resolve issues during class time is never appropriate.
