ABOUT US

1 (3).png

Our not-so-small dance school has existed in many forms, under a few different names, with many teachers, at various venues around Ballan but one thing has never changed; since our humble beginnings in 2015, Studio C has been providing high-quality, professional performing arts tuition with love and care for the growing rural community of Ballan.

Whilst we are a young dance school in a small town, Studio C has ALWAYS taken great pride in being able to provide our dancers with the same calibre of performing arts education and performance opportunities as any other established dance school- from community involvement, Ballet examinations, competitions, performances in full-sized theatres and more!

Thanks to the dedication of our families and the determination from our teachers, Studio C has steadily continued to grow and blossom into a performing arts school that Miss Charlotte once only dreamt of. Together as a school, we not only survived through two years of unpredictable lessons both on and offline during a pandemic but went on to welcome a multitude of new families the following year, more than doubling our number of enrolled students!

Studio C boasts a teaching team of qualified, highly experienced and passionate instructors who are active performers, frequently seeking extra professional development. They take pride in offering a friendly, safe and welcoming environment for students of all ages and abilities to grow, aligning with Studio C's philosophy to strive to nurture and develop talent, celebrate the achievements of all students, and inspire a love and appreciation of all styles of dance and the Arts.

UNIFORMS & MERCHANDISE

Look like a dancer, Feel like a dancer, DANCE like a Dancer!

** PLEASE NOTE 1/01/25:
Our updated Uniform requirements are as listed in our Studio Information pack, found through our Enrolment form. Thank you for your patience as we work to fully update our website over the holiday break!

Our compulsory uniform policy goes hand-in-hand with our studio values as we promote teamwork,
community & passion! Dancers
 learn best when they're dressed safely and appropriately, plus our students love wearing their special uniform, enjoy feeling a part of our community and can represent our school with pride. What students wear to class also affects their attitude toward their learning;
we want everyone
to look and FEEL the part!

Enrolled students should attend each lesson in uniform from the beginning of Term One.
TRIAL STUDENTS may attend in appropriate, non-restrictive clothing (preferably all bla
ck)
until their third week of classes.

Jazz, Musical Theatre & Tiny Tumblers (Pre-school):

Tan Jazz shoes for girls. Black Jazz shoes for boys. Any combination of plain black shirts, crop tops, leotards, shorts or pants. Studio C tops and jackets are available to purchase year-round (made to order). Hair must be tied back, off the face. Tan jazz tights are optional during class time, but a requirement for performances and competitions, including the end of year concert.

Contemporary:

'Foot Undeez', half-ballet shoes or bare feet. Any combination of plain black shirts, crop tops, leotards, shorts or pants. Hair neatly tied back, off the face.

Hip Hop:

All-black high-top sneakers, any combination of plain black shirts, crop tops, leotards, shorts or pants. Hair neatly tied back, off the face. We prefer the black high-top canvas sneakers from Kmart but where these aren’t available, all-black lace up sneakers are welcome (no coloured branding).

Acrobatics:

Bare feet, any combination of plain black shirts, crop tops, leotards, shorts or pants. Hair neatly tied back, off the face. We strongly recommend girls wearing a black crop top or leotard underneath tops for modesty and comfort. All Tiny Tumblers (pre-school) students must wear Jazz uniform and shoes as listed above- no ‘just tights’ as this is a slip hazard!

Tap:

Tan Tap shoes for girls, Black Tap shoes for boys (All Senior/Open Tappers please confirm style and colour of Tap shoes before purchasing). Clothing same as Jazz uniform.

CONCERT TIGHTS:
Students in ALL classes may require either Tan Jazz Tights or Theatrical Pink Ballet Tights for Studio C performances (convertible or footed, please confirm with your teacher prior to purchasing!).

PLEASE NOTE:

We do not recommend purchasing dance wear from shops such as Kmart or Big W (with the exception of Hip Hop shoes) as this is not correct uniform. Uniform can be purchased from Central Dance Supplies in Ballarat or from any good dance retailer.
